Pilates

What is Pilates? Is an exercise regime that consists of slow, controlled, flowing movements that primarily strengthen ‘core’ muscles. These stabilize and support the spine, realign your body and helps correct postural problems.

When practised regularly, Pilates can help to:

  • Improve your posture by realigning the joints

  • Give relief from back, shoulder and other pain.

  • Help with rehabilitation and preventing problems

  • Increase your strength & stamina

  • Improve your balance & co-ordination

  • Improve muscular flexibility and your range of movement

  • Change your body shape

  • Help you relax and beat stress

Practising Pilates brings your mind and body together as you take control of your movement. Your body awareness will improve and you will develop good habits that you can use in everyday life – not just in class.

Joseph Pilates is quoted as saying ‘In ten lessons you will feel a difference, in twenty you’ll see a difference and in thirty you will have a whole new body‘. We can’t guarantee that but are sure you will quickly feel the difference and the benefits as experienced by our many regular, long-standing students.

Pilates Classes

Sandy is always kind and patient with us, clearly explaining the exercises we are doing and just as importantly, why. She often gives 3 options for each exercise (easy, medium and more challenging), so that her classes are suitable for beginners and experienced students alike.  I am far more aware of my posture (and correcting it!) since I have been doing Sandy’s Pilates classes.”                       Debbie W - Englefield Green

Barre Training is the latest fitness trend spreading the globe and has a growing following including many celebrities. The reason is because it works and you can get amazing results really quickly.

It combines elements of Ballet, Pilates and Yoga to form a challenging and exciting workout. It stretches and scupts the muscles, whilst burning fat. Balance, strength, stamina, power, flexibility and motor contol all improve.

Set to the beat of high energy music from Motown to 70s, 80s to current, this low impact, total body workout lifts the butt, tones the thighs, flattens the abs and sculpts the arms, whilst protecting the joints.  And because you work at your own pace, its suitable for most levels of fitness.

BarreConcept is the only internationally accredited Barre Training course in the world and Sandy was one of the first qualified BarreConcept instructor in Surrey.

There are two Barre classes available - one is the Combo class which includes a full Barre class and a Pilates session in 80 minutes.  By combining both, you only do one warm up and one cool down but get a great full body workout.

The evening session is pure Barre with a short session on the mat or against the wall at the end.

Dancing for Fitness

Dancing for Fitness

Dancing for Fitness

Do you love to dance but rarely get the chance?

Do you enjoy Zumba but don't know the songs?

Do you want an aerobic workout for your heart and lungs?

Do you want to move your body with like-minded others and exercise whilst having fun?

If the answer to any of those questions is Yes, then you should come and try Dancing for Fitness.

Sandy is a qualified Zumba and Exercise to Music instructor who found that whilst her students enjoyed the Zumba dances, they much preferred the "pop" songs that they knew and loved.  So Dancing for Fitness began - fun classes using a range of Salsa, Cumbia, Regatton steps and exercise to music steps but having total freedom to use whatever music we like.

And we like a lot of different music - old and new songs, fast & slow to a wide range of beats.    And we take requests for your favourites!

You will have fun learning the dances and the benefits are huge:-

1.  Dancing builds core strength

2. Dancing improves Flexibility and your range of movement

3. Dancing boosts your cardiovascular health e.g. heart & lungs

4. Dancing helps improve your mental health and well-being

5. Dancing is good for bone health & density

6. Learning dances can help prevent memory loss

7.  The social interaction & shared experience feels amazing!

Come and have a free trial class and get to know everyone.  You will soon be dancing, smiling and having so much fun you will forget you are working out!    See you on the dance floor!
