We offer a range of fitness classes in Surrey designed for all ages and levels to help you get back into the habit of regular exercise. Our aim is to give you enjoyable, fun and effective classes in an environment that makes you want to keep coming back! Pilates - What is Pilates?
Pilates consists of slow controlled flowing movements that primarily strengthen the “core” muscles that stabilize and support the spine, realign the body and correct postural problems. It can help:-
- Improve your posture by realigning your joints
- Give relief from back pain - great for rehabilitation and prevention
- Increase your strength and stamina
- Help you to relax and beat stress
- Improve your balance and co-ordination
- Improve muscular flexibility
- Sharpen your focus
- Gain control over your body
- Change your body shape!
Pilates brings mind & body together, focusing strongly on total concentration, balance, precision and breathing. As you complete the exercises, you will be come more aware of how your body feels during the exercises – and you will be able to use this awareness in everday activities. It can take years off how you look and feel. In Joseph Pilates own words "In ten lessons you'll feel a difference, in twenty you'll see a difference and in thirty you'll have a whole new body"!
Pilates for Pregnancy - before and after birth!
Modified Pilates movements are suitable from early pregnancy up to 36 weeks and for post natal exercise (subject to individual health). Pilates can help improve posture during pregnancy, promote pelvic floor strength & control, reduce back pain, help towards an easier labour and can support a quicker return to shape and fitness after birth. Courses are run subject to demand but you can come along to the Mums & Babies class on Monday mornings from 11.30-12.30 at any time. Please contact us for details.
What is that "Zumba" all about then?
The Zumba program is an effective, innovative and exhilarating workout designed for everyone. The primary elements that make it so unique and successful are:-
- Its fun! The ZUMBA program is "exercise in disguise". You will have fun and not even realise that you are exercising. It feels so good you will keep coming back for more!
- Its different! The music, the steps, the moves, the class, the energy.... nothing compares to a ZUMBA fitness-party!
- Its easy! The ZUMBA program is designed for everyone. People of any fitness level, from any background and of any age can start the program right away. The program's basic steps formula makes it easy for everyone.
- Its effective! The ZUMBA program is a cardio-based workout with components of resistance/sculpting training to tone the entire body and achieve your fitness goals.
- Its great for the mind, body and soul and you'll love seeing the changes it makes to your body!
Come along to a class on Monday evening or Saturday morning and give it a go!
Between them, Pilates and Zumba provide a great combination of exercises that help you tone and strenthen your muscles and give you a great aerobic workout.
Come along and join in! You can work at your own pace and you will be amazed at the improvements you will feel after just a few weeks.
What equipment do I need?
Just come along in comfortable clothes and bring some water to drink. For Dance Fitness and ZUMBA, please wear trainers or dance sneakers to support your feet properly. For pilates, bare feet or socks to keep your feet warm are fine.
For Pilates, you will need your own mat so bring along what you have or we can provide these for you for £22 (RRP £30). We have a small supply available for beginners who want to try before they invest but you will need your own in the long run.
